Education for All examines the seven major influences on learning, where they intersect and, ultimately, how they shape a student’s educational journey:

Untitled design.png

1. Content (standards and textbooks)

2. Instruction (teachers and methods)

3. Assessment (testing)

4. Leadership (school and district)

5. Staff development (training)

6. School culture

7. Community culture

Through sharing my experiences with children, staff, and parents, I provide an inside view of what happens in public schools—from how textbooks dictate instruction to how a school’s individual culture can affect achievement, to how high-stakes testing undermines learning, among many other topics.

While I do suggest possible actions readers can take to effect positive change, I do not offer easy fixes. Instead, I ask questions and share stories to provoke informed, nuanced conversations about how we can ensure all children—no matter where they live—thrive in public schools.

What People Are Saying

"There are books that are written about the classroom, and then there are books that KNOW the classroom. Education...for All:  Tales from the Classroom and the Pursuit of Equitable Reform is a must read for any teacher looking for insight, experience, and answers to confidently start their career, and a must read for any seasoned teacher needing inspiration and rejuvenation to remind them why they started teaching in the first place. Green weaves story, humanity, and practical advice seamlessly throughout this important read." - Julietta Skoog, Ed.S, MA, Co-Founder Sproutable

“I am a parent of two children, one now in college and one in high school, both of whom attended public schools since kindergarten. Mitchell Green, in his book 'Education...for All' offers practical, thoughtful and accessible ideas with the goal of getting the most out of public education. Through his extensive experience and teaching antidotes, Mitchell provides a framework to foster a love of learning in students and a love of teaching in educators. Thought provoking and recommended reading for any parent.’ - N.Lea

"Well written with warmth backed by a philosophy of action." - Steve Hauk, author of Steinbeck:  The Untold Stories

“Education…For All” provided such a unique perspective on today’s education system, what is influencing our children’s experience and impacting the outcome. I found Mitchell’s insights and personal experiences to be super helpful when thinking about my own children’s education.” - Jodie Scott, Working Mother of a 5th grade and a 7th grade student in public school

“Mitchell Green is a wonderful educational leader and trainer. The framework of his training reminds educators of the broader mission and our true "why" and then delves into infusing that into our day-to-day tasks. I see Mitchell as a truly child-centric educator, someone who considers all facets of a student's life that affect their learning and behavior. The way he leads discussions and training naturally lends to this approach, encouraging others to question if they are genuinely meeting their students where they are. Mitchell was very well received by our faculty, namely for his humble approach and sincere love for education and youth. 10/10 would recommend!” - Erin Tucker, York School
